Specifically, I proposed corrections concerning the formatting and logical sequencing of the table of contents, for more coherence and hierarchical structure that would clearly delineate the relationship between chapters and their respective sub-sections. Additionally, I provided guidance on the systematic structuring of the empirical data presented in the earlier chapters, particularly with respect to the categorization of traditional Hausa occupations and economic practices. The authors demonstrated commendable receptiveness to these suggestions and subsequently implemented revisions that have markedly enhanced the clarity, coherence, and scholarly rigor of the final manuscript.

The manuscript demonstrates a commendable synthesis of scholarly rigor and practical significance. PEER REVIEW REPORT ON BIƊA DA TANADI A DUNIYAR INTANET (SANA’O’I, KASUWANCI, ƘWADAGO)

This peer review report concerns the book titled Biɗa Da Tanadi a Duniyar Intanet (Sana’o’i, Kasuwanci, Ƙwadago), which in English may be rendered as Earning and Saving in the Internet World (Crafts, Trades, Freelancing). The work consists of six well-structured and substantive chapters and represents a significant new contribution to the understanding of commerce and economic life for Hausa people within the digital environment. Its publication in the Hausa language serves an important educational purpose, for while there exist previous writings in English on related topics by Hausa scholars working in computer and information science, this book is the first systematic effort to raise awareness among the general Hausa-speaking public (and indeed all those who speak Hausa) regarding the possibilities of earning (biɗa) and saving (tanadi) within the internet-based economy. As Nelson Mandela famously stated, “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head; if you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” There is no doubt that the topics contained in this book will penetrate not merely the ears but the very hearts of readers, who will benefit from the knowledge presented and in turn put it into practice for their own economic advancement.

The authors wisely acknowledge that God, who is the essence of time itself, has brought us the internet precisely suited to the needs of our present era, just as future generations will receive technologies appropriate to their own requirements. It is undeniable that refusing to adapt to the demands of one's time inevitably leads to the frustration or even complete breakdown of daily necessities. The authors have made an honest, diligent, and thorough effort to educate Hausa communities on matters relating to crafts (sana’o’i), trades and commerce (kasuwanci), and labor or freelancing (ƙwadago) within the internet sphere.

Chapters of the manuscript were sent to me for review at various points during 2024 and 2025. On each occasion, I conducted a careful and detailed review, after which I returned my observations, criticisms, and suggestions for correction to the authors. The review process focused on conceptual clarity, cultural accuracy, technical consistency, and the appropriateness of Hausa terminology for digital and financial concepts that are relatively new to the language. The authors responded attentively to these observations, and the manuscript improved substantially through successive revisions. The final version of the complete manuscript was sent to me on 20 May 2026, and I completed my final review on 30 May 2026. During this final review, I found that the manuscript had reached a high level of scholarly and practical quality. I recommended only very minor changes before publication, and these minor changes relate exclusively to dialectal preferences in a small number of instances. Specifically, in a few places the authors employ lexical variants from one major Hausa dialect zone, and I suggested alternative variants that are more widely accessible to readers from other Hausa-speaking regions, such as Sokoto, Zariya, Bauchi, and beyond. These suggested adjustments do not affect grammatical correctness, semantic meaning, or the integrity of the arguments presented, but they will improve the book's acceptability and readability across the full spectrum of Hausa speakers. No substantive content, factual data, chapter organization, or line of argumentation requires further modification.

The book is academically sound, culturally grounded, and practically useful. It successfully links traditional Hausa economic practices with contemporary digital opportunities, examining how inherited occupations and historical forms of trade and commerce have been reshaped by modern technological developments. It provides clear guidance on various forms of online labor, including product promotion, brokerage and intermediation, photo and device editing, digital currency trading, language technology services, and digital marketing. The fifth chapter offers a careful discussion of saving practices associated with digital financial systems, including bank accounts, digital wallets, and other instruments such as digital assets and foreign currencies. The final chapter outlines practical steps for participation in online earning and saving activities, specifying the skills and resources required for success, such as computer literacy, professional expertise in specific fields, and access to appropriate technological tools.

Throughout the work, the authors emphasize that digital participation should not come at the cost of losing Hausa linguistic and cultural identity, and that active engagement with the digital economy can strengthen Hausa presence in global economic networks. I therefore recommend the book for publication.
