Bayan kafuwar Daular Usumaniyya, wasu abubuwa sun auku ga shugabannin al’ummar. Irin waɗannan abubuwa sun wanzar da samuwar alkunya domin sakaya sunayen jagororin, kamar yadda za a gani ɗaya bayan ɗaya:
a. Bello: Akan yi wa mai suna
Bello alkunya da Maiwurno. Wannan ya faru ne sakamakon wafatin (rasuwar) Sarkin
Musulmi Muhammadu Bello a garin Wurno, aka kuma rufe shi a can Wurno ɗin. Wannan ya sa Wurno ta
kasance mazauni na har abada gare shi tun da can ne kabarinsa yake. Sakamakon
haka, duk mai suna Bello, a gundumar Sakkwato ana kiransa da Maiwurno. Hasali
ma Wurno ce Cibiyar Masarautarsa, wadda ya jagorantar daga 1817 zuwa 1837,
bayan ya taso daga Sakkwato.
b. Dabagira: Laƙabi ne
da ake kiran aduwa da shi, domin jin nauyin ambaton sunan saboda sunan ya so ya
yi kama da sunan Sarkin Kano Abdullahi Maje Karofi, kamar yadda Sufi (1993 p.
86).
c. Magajin Gari: Alkunya ce da
ake yi wa mai suna Mamuda a Kano, akan taƙaita shi a ce Magaji.
d. Maichimola: Alkunya ce da aka
yi wa Sarkin Musulmi Ahmadu ɗan
Abubakar Atiku (1859-1866), saboda ya mayar da garin Chimola a matsayin
sansaninsa, kamar yadda Sokoto (2014 p. 394) ya nuna. Wannan ne ya sa duk mai
suna Ahmadu akan yi masa laƙabi da Maichimola, saboda jin nauyin faɗar sunan, musamman a ƙasar Sakkwato.
e. Maiharara: Alkunya ce da ake
yi wa mai suna Mariya a Kano, musamman a fada. Ana yi mata laƙabi da
Maihara, wani zubin sukan taƙaita su ce: Harara. Sunan ya samo asali
ne daga wata jikarta da ake kira Magajiya, wadda babban ɗanta, Sarkin Kano Abdullahi Bayaro ya haifa.
Binciken Sufi (1993 p. 82) ya nuna cewa, Magajiya babbar ‘yar Sarkin Kano ce ta
laƙaba
mata suna Maiharar, saboda duk lokacin da suka haɗa
ido da Magajiyar, sai Fulani Mariya ta harare ta. Don haka wata rana da aka ɗauki Magajiyar aka tunkari
(nufi) Mariyar da ita, sai ta dinga cewa: “Ni ka da ku kai ni wajen mai hararar
mutane”. Tun daga lokacin ne aka riƙa kiran Fulani Mariya da laƙabin
Maiharara. Laƙabin ya yi tasiri matuƙa, har ya zama duk mai suna Mariya sai
ana kiranta Maiharara ko ma a taƙaita da Harara, saboda kara irin ta fada.
Daman fada suna da irin wannan salo na saka wa mutum wani suna idan suna jin
nauyin faɗar sunansa
kai-tsaye.
f. Maikano: Alkunya ce da Kanawa
suke yi wa Sarkin Kano Abdullahi Maje Karofi ɗan
Sarkin Kano Malam Ibrahim Dabo. An yi masa alkunyar ne saboda sakaya sunansa na
yanka, sakamakon kwarjininsa da himmarsa da ƙwazonsa da cika alƙawali da riƙon
amana da jaruntaka, waɗanda
suka taimaka masa wajen daɗa
inganta mulkin Kano tare da ƙara kyautata shi. Ya kuma tsaida da mulki
mai ƙarfi
kamar mahaifinsa Malam Ibrahim Dabo. Wannan ya sa akan yi masa kirari da cewa:” Abdullahi dagi maganin ƙasa
mai tsauri”. An sami
cigaba a zamaninsa, Kano ta bunƙasa sosai, ta hanyar cinikayya, addinin
Musulunci ya daɗa
inganta da bunƙasa, bai zauna ba sai da ya kafa mulki mai adalci, ƙasa ta
yi daidai (Waziri, 2008 p. 53-5). Sakamakon haka ne aka yi masa alkunya da
Maikano (Dokaji, 1978 p. 47).
g. Maikaturu: Alkunya ce da ake
yi wa Sarkin Musulmi Abubakar Atiku na 1, wanda ya jagoranci Daular Usmaniyya
daga 1837 zuwa 1842. An yi masa alkunyar ne saboda a Katuru Allah Ya yi masa
wafati (rasuwa). A can aka yi masa kabari, kamar yadda Sokoto, (2014 p. 392) ya
nuna. Mai takwaran sunansa (Abubakar) akan kira shi da Maikaturu, saboda kunyar
faɗar sunansa, domin
jin nauyin ambaton sunan.
h. Maiƙaura: Alkunya ce da aka
yi wa Sarkin Musulmi Umaru ɗan
Aliyu Babba (1881 -1891), saboda ya rasu a garin Ƙaura Namoda, aka yi masa kabari a can.
Sakamakon haka ne akan kira mai suna Umaru da laƙabin Maiƙaura saboda jin nauyin faɗar ainahin sunan.
i. Maisango: Alkunya ce da ake yi
wa Sarkin Kano Aliyu, saboda shi ne sarki na farko da ya fara amfani da wani
makami da ake kira sango a ƙasar Hausa. Don haka duk mai suna Aliyu ana yi masa laƙabi da
Maisango a Kano. Irin wannan alkunyar ta shafi abubuwan da ake amfani da su.
Misali, Allura ana kiranta maɗinkiya,
saboda sunanta ya so ya yi kama da sunan Sarkin Kano Alu, kamar yadda Sufi
(1993 p. 86).
j. Maishinaka:Alkunya ce da ake
yi wa Sarkin Musulmi Aliyu Babba ɗan
Sarkin Musulmi Muhammadu Bello. An naɗa
shi Uban ƙasar
Shinaka a matsayin Durumbun Shinaka. Yana bisa wannan matsayin ne aka ba shi
sarautar Sarkin Musulmi. A garin na Shinaka ya wanzar da tsare-tsare masu
amfani. Sakamakon kunyar faɗar
sunansa na yanka aka rinƙa kiran duk mai suna Aliyu da laƙabin Maishinaka a ƙasar Sakkwato.
k. Maisunan Malam: Alkunya ce da
ake yi wa mai suna Ibrahim, saboda sakaya sunan Sarkin Kano Ibrahim Dabo kamar
yadda Sufi (1993 p. 86). Haka kuma, an yi masa alkunya da Cigari saboda ya yi
yaƙe-yaƙe da
dama inda ya cinye garuruwa. Hasali ma, duk inda ya fuskanta ba mai iya taron
sa. Wannan ne ya sa mutane suka yi masa laƙabi da Saifullahi Cigari kamar yadda Waya
(2000 p. 39) ya kawo. Daga baya ne aka taƙaita laƙabin zuwa Cigari, inda ake laƙaba wa
mai suna Ibrahim, wanda hakan ya kasance sakayawa ga sarkin Kano Ibrahim Dabo.
l. Maiturare: Alkunya ce da aka
yi wa Sarkin Musulmi Muhammadu (1915 – 1924). Ana kyautata zaton an yi masa laƙabin
ne sakamakon yawan tu’ammali
da yake yi da turare. Saboda shi mutum ne mai zarafi (dukiya).
Irin wannan alkunyar a ƙasar
Hausa ba ta tsaya kawai ga sunayen mutane da abubuwa ba, har ma ta shafi
lokacin da mace ta haihu, wanda ya sanya mace ba ta faɗar sa’ar haihuwarta, saidai ta kira ta
mutumin, idan namiji ne, mutumiyar, idan mace ce.
Haka kuma a sakamakon auratayya
da ta auku a tsakanin Hausawa da Fulani, ya wanzar da ƙarin wani fagen shigowar
wasu sunaye ga al’ummar
Hausawa. Misalai daga cikinsu sun haɗa
da:
a. Baba: Uba.
b. Babandi: Laƙabin
da ake yi wa wanda aka raɗa
wa sunan kakansa, daidai yake da Babando ko Babangida.
c. Bello: Wanda ke nufin
mataimaki.
d. Ɓoyi: Yaron da aka haifa bayan
mahaifiyarsa ta yanke ƙauna daga samun haihuwa. Mace kuwa ana kiranta Nebi.
e. Buwa: Yana nufin mai shanu.
f. Cisob: Wanda mahaifinsa ya ƙara
aure yana ciki kafin haihuwarsa, idan mace ce aka haifa sai a kira ta Susi.
g. Dada:Uwa.
h. Dikko: Ɗanfari, mace ko namiji.
i. Dudu:Wadda aka haifa bayan
haihuwar ‘ya’ya maza da dama (masu yawa).
j. Giɗaɗo:Yana
nufin abin ƙauna.
k. Ige: Wadda aka haifa bayan
maza.
l. Inna:Laƙabin da ake yi wa
yarinyar da aka raɗa
wa sunan kakarta.
m. Iri: Yaro ko yarinyar da
mahaifinsa/ta ya rasu kafin haihuwarsa/ta.
n. Jaɓɓi: Wanda ko wadda aka haifa ranar da aka yi
baƙo
ko lokacin da baƙo zai zo.
o. Jaɓɓo: Sannu da zuwa.
p. Juli: Wanda aka haifa ranar
Idi.
q. Lamiɗo: Wanda aka haifa bayan babansa ya samu
sarauta, a wasu wurare shi ake kira Riskuwa.
r. Macciɗo:Wanda aka haifa ya rayu bayan wasu suna
rasuwa. Mace kuwa ana ce mata Aberta ko Joda.
s. Manga: Laƙabin
da ake yi wa mai suna Muhammadu.
t. Nene: Yaya mace.
u. Sajo: Wanda aka haifa bayan
haihuwar tagwaye.
v. Sambo: Laƙabin
da ake yi wa mai suna Muhammadu. Kuma ana yi wa ɗa
na biyu da aka haifa laƙabin Sambo, yana kuma daidai daTabari (CNHN, 2006 p. 387).
w. Sumaye: Wanda ko wadda aka
haifa cikin azumi.
x. Tabo/Modiyam: Wanda ko wadda
aka haifa lokacin malka.
y. Wakkala: Wanda ko wadda aka
haifa mahaifiyarsa/ta ta rasu bayan haihuwarsa/ta.
z. Woɗi: Yarinyar da aka haifa kyakkyawa.
aa. Yuguda: Wanda aka haifa bayan
haihuwar jerin ‘ya’ya mata masu yawa.
