Dr. Jibril Yusuf (Hausa Political Literature)

1.0 About

Dr. Jibril Yusuf is a dedicated academic and researcher in Hausa Literature at the Department of Nigerian Languages and Linguistics, Kaduna State University. He holds a B.A. in Hausa from Kaduna State University, an M.A. in Hausa Studies from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and completed his Ph.D. in Hausa Literature at the same institution.

His research focuses on Hausa literature, political discourse in oral and written traditions, Hausa media, and cultural studies. He has published widely in reputable journals, including the Yobe Journal of Language, Literature and Culture, Kadaura Journal of Multi-Disciplinary Studies, and Tasambo Journal of Language, Literature and Culture. His works examine themes such as political communication in Hausa songs, youth culture, literary criticism, and the role of language in shaping social and political narratives.

At Kaduna State University, Dr. Yusuf teaches courses spanning Hausa poetry, media drama, traditional culture, and political literature. He has successfully supervised numerous undergraduate research projects and has presented papers at national and international conferences on Hausa drama, film, and popular culture.

Beyond academia, he has contributed as a translator and field researcher with international organizations such as Christian Aid, focusing on adolescent empowerment, disaster risk management, and public health communication. He also plays active roles in community development initiatives, serving in educational and cultural associations, and regularly engaging as a guest speaker on issues related to Hausa language, literature, and society.

Dr. Jibril is passionate about advancing Hausa literary scholarship, mentoring students, and exploring the intersections between language, culture, and politics in Northern Nigeria.
