Haliƙal halƙi ya Jabbaru,

 Has Sahabbai da Ali aminnai nashi.

 

Mai tsarewa tsare mu ga sharri,

Mai rabawa raba muna hairi,

Tunkuɗe min haƙon asharari,

Tun da baiwa gare Ka da ƙari,

 Arzikin dud da ban ni da ƙaro min shi.

 

Mun biɗa inda wanda ka ba mu,

Wanda yai yi mu Shi ka tsaron mu,

Wanda yai yi mu rabo Ya samu,

 Ni kiran duk da nai maka amsam min shi.

 

Ga ni ga kiran ka na ɗaga murya,

Har ƙwarai babu duk jin kumya,

Kai ka ba mai uba da maraya,

Inda duk zamani yai juya,

 Inda sauƙinka duk shike juya min shi.

 

ƙara jin ƙan da Kay yi ka kyauta,

Kullu yaumin mu ƙara ni’imta,

Sa wadata ta ƙara yawaita,

Don iyawakKa kam mu talauta,

 Inda duk za shi tsaurara sa mai tabshi.

 

Tun da ga zamani ya sake,

Kai muka kira zama mun tabke,

Ga shi duk talikai sun tsunke,

Mai buga ya bi duk ya rabke,

 Dud da suna garai nana Shago wai shi.

 

Ga shi yau shi kaɗai ka kirari,

Yau sabatta mu ɗai shi ka guri,

Ga shi nan ya nufo mu da sharri,

Mun yi ƙara gare ka ƙdiri,

 Tun da kai aƙƙadiru buwayan min shi.

 

Shago ya yo haruru gare mu,

Wai nufo tai shi zo shi tare mu,

Bugun kashi shi ka nufar shi buge mu,

Agaza Jalla kas shi taɓe mu,

 Inda duz za shi zabura dafe min shi.

 

Ba mu ismi shi tsare mu gare shi,

Bugu da dwaga gare shi da naushi,

Wata nufa wadda nag ga gare shi,

Zabura za shi yi shi yi taushi,

 Sadda duk za shi yunƙura taushe min shi.

 

Daɗa ku kau Shago ya naɗe damtse,

Inda duk ya nufata a watse,

Ba a tarbansa dole a ratse,

Mai bugu har su hanji su katse,

 Jalla ni ba ni immi shi tarbe min shi.

 

Ya fi bom ya fi bindiga sharri,

Mai bugu shi yi iza shi yi shuri,

Shago farta gare shi da mari,

Hadda rura garai da kirari,

 Jalla tun ba mu taƙa ba kiyaye min shi.

 

Shi ka korak ka har shi matse ka,

Ka so tsayi ga shi ya rinjai ka,

Gudu kakai ba shi sa shi shi bar ka,

Inda duk kan nufata shi bi ka,

 Ga halin Shago bai iya jin lallashi.

 

Har gida shika biya shi yi taushi,

Da mai gida ya fito shi tare shi,

Bugu guda shika yi mai shi saɓe shi,

Shina da rai ga shi ya gaza tashi,

 Ga shi ga ‘yan ɗiyansa abin zah haushi.

 

‘Yan ɗiya duk shi bi su shi darje,

In uwa tat tare shi shi murje,

Ba a jimirin bugunsa a cije,

Ran faɗa Shago ya ɗara soja,

 Ya fi ko soja-manja bugun ban haushi.

 

Kaɗo ai dole na a gude shi,

Wanda duk yab buga bai tashi,

Ai bugun kaɗo ni na san shi,

Yaka sa kunnuwanka ka ji shi,

 Kaɗo ba tanƙwara ciki ba tarkoshi.

 

Bugunka hanjin mutum shi ka suya,

Zucciyar taliki shi shi ka tuya,

Wanda duk kab buga bai kumya,

Bai gudun cin tuwo bisa hanya,

 Ba shi ko shan tayi ga surukkainai.

 

Maƙetaci kaɗo ba tuna Allah,

Shi ka koya ma karuwa salla,

Kaɗo ba kare kumallo da ƙola,

Ba sayen dawo a jingina dila,

 Ci da ɗan Hausa taiba shi ce zal laushi.

 

Tanƙwaro mai tsawo shi gajarta,

Sa ma guntu tsawo shi tsawaita,

Kaɗo sa tagumi shi yawaita,

Sa idanu dufu su dufunta,

 Sai gashi garu-garu a ce yai burshi.

 

Tajiri kam raba shi da mali,

Kashe manomi bale dillali,

Karya halshe a ko gaza ƙauli,

Kaɗo sa ɗa shi furfura hali,

 Sa shi ‘yan roƙe-roƙe a ce yai tabshi.

 

Rabki boka shi bar maka saye,

ƙum guda hankalinsa shi juye,

Jikkunam maganinsa su yoye,

Nan da nan gaskiya ta yi kaye,

 Ga kare kwance ya rasa mai shi ko shi.

 

Tashi bugi kan kilaki ta koka,

Banna fodad da tay yi ga fuska,

In fa kaina ka yamutse bukka,

Sai ta kirci ka sa mata tsika,

 Tsotse naman jikinta ka sa mai kaushi.

 

Malami kam kashedi gare shi,

Kai wuce kaɗo kak ka taɓe shi,

Shi mutunci gare shi ka bar shi,

Shago don Allah kak ka buge shi,

 Kaɗo ya rantsa ba shi karatu wai shi.

 

Ga mareninka ɗan albashi,

Ko wata fam guda aka ba shi,

Inda duk kag ganai ga buge shi,

Nan da nan na ka bar shi da bashi,

 Kaito ka bar shi can bisa alwashi shi.

 

Wuri guda nig ga kaɗo ka tada,

Inda bai son shige musu fada,

Don gudun kar shi faɗa lifidda,

Masu sulke su bi shi da rida,

 Dole bauɗe ma fada tudun ban kashi.

 

Gwamma shi dai batun ga a bar shi,

Ammanin kaɗo dambe gare shi,

ƙasa gudu shika ishe ma su bar shi,

Shi watse kowa cikinta su tashi,

 Ga shi shi ɗai na bagara ba lallashi.

 

Shago kam maganinsa du’ai,

Babu duk Shago ban da bala’i,

Sai mu roƙa ga wanda ka ma’i,

Shi yi ruwa don mu wanke waba’i,

 Babu duk mai rabo mu da Shago sai shi.

 

Rabbana mun biɗe ka karimci,

Sa Musulmi su ɗebe talauci,

Kawo sauƙi mu jirkita kwanci,

Ba mu yalwat tufa da abinci,

 Ba mu yardakka tare da jinƙai ko shi.

 

Koma daɗa yin salati ka ƙara,

Nan ga Manzonka Ahma ka ƙara,

Har sahabbai da Ali a tara,

Nawa laifi da nai yi ka gyara,

 Tun da sunanka Gafiru yafe min shi.

 

Pensuri daɗa tsaya in huta,

Don dare ya yi sai in kwanta,

Dubi waƙag ga yau nay yi ta,

Bisa nufar Jalla niw waƙe ta,

 Babu mai ba mutum hikima baicin shi.

 

Godiya Jalla na gama waƙa,

Addua niy yi nik ko roƙa,

GunKa domin mu samu haƙiƙa,

Ba mu sunanka kai mai waƙa,

 Sai ku ce I/C laƙabin sai ko shi. 

The book “Cimakar Bahaushe” (Diets of the Hausa People) is a collection of 293 traditional and modern diets of the Hausa people. Detailed explanations of the recipes and ingredients are provided. Comments are provided on the areas of the Hausa land where specific diets are mostly found, the age categories of people that usually use it, as well as the scientific impact of some of the diets to human biology.  Data is collected from interviews with different categories of people including:  i.                    Food sellers within the Hausa land: Mainly to have an idea of recipes on the diets.  ii.                  People of older age: Mainly to have insights on traditional diets of the Hausas.  iii.               Hausa scholars: Mainly to verify and justify the validity of the information obtained as well as provide further expert explanations on the diets.  Moreover, over two hundred (200) pieces of literature were reviewed to have better insight on the topic in question as well as get scientific and professional clarifications on some key concepts relevant to the research. The pieces of literature cover major relevant phenomena such as diet and hunger. Others are on the Hausa land and the Hausas.  The book contains thirty-three (33) chapters. Chapter one is the main introduction in which a concise explanation is provided on the Hausas, their history, their land, social life, and transformations due to globalization, acculturation, and modernity. Chapter two detailly discusses the concepts of diet and food from the Hausa point of view. That includes the meaning and the usage of diets in some Hausa works of literature both verbal and written (i.e. prose, poetry, proverbs, etc.).  Chapters three and four discuss the sources of Hausa diets and their forms accordingly. Chapters five to seventeen discuss some traditional Hausa diets including hard and soft ones. Chapter eighteen concentrates on the influence of modernity and globalization on Hausa diets. It has been discovered that there have been some significant changes in the Hausa diets ranging from recipes to kitchenettes.  Chapters nineteen to thirty-two discuss modern Hausa diets. Some traditional diets are still retained with little modifications, while on the other hand, there are a lot of new ones. Chapter thirty-three discusses “hunger” from the Hausa point of view. The relationship between hunger and food is examined. Additionally, the use of hunger in various Hausa literary works is studied. It is concluded that hunger is like a disease whereby its cure is food.  7th November 2022
