Using Toothpaste During the Daytime in Ramadan?

𝑸𝑼𝑬𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵

Is it permissible for those who are observing Sawm (Fasting) to use toothpaste during the daytime in Ramadan?

𝑨𝑵𝑺𝑾𝑬𝑹❗️

There is nothing wrong in doing this, as long as they avoid swallowing any of it. It is also permissible to use Siwak (tooth-cleansing stick) while fasting at the beginning and end of the day. Some scholars held that it is Makruh (reprehensible) to use Siwak in the afternoon.

This is the least likely correct opinion, and the more correct view is that it is not Makruh, because of the general meaning of the Hadith of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم), “Siwak purifies the mouth and pleases the Lord.” Related by Al-Nasa’i through a Sahih [authentic] Isnad [chain of narrators]

▪️On the authority of ‘Aishah (رضي الله عنه) The Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) also said, “If it were not for the fear that I might make it hard for my Ummah (nation based on one creed), I would have commanded them to use the Siwak at the time of every Salah (Prayer).” (Agreed upon by Al-Bukhari and Muslim) This includes the Zhuhr (Noon) and ‘Asr (Afternoon) Prayers, which are performed afternoon. With Allah is the success!
