ASUU, Salary Review NOT Topping Demand List: Do My Eyes See Clearly?

I beg to differ with the hierarchical list of ASUU demands as presented by various media outlets. We neither have to nag nor to be going one step forward three steps backward on a single item. We have made numerous submissions that this time around, our average opinion in categorical, - salary review must top the list of our demands. It's very irritating and demoralizing to members to see completely a reverse case.  ASUU national should bang the table and tell FG that no professor should earn anything less than 1.5 m per month. Period! Most of our professors have developed sight defects. They have to put on correction glasses to be able to see clearly. They read exhaustively to offer maximum service to education and to nation-building. Reflection from white paper and computer screens has worn out their retina.

They are being bombarded with the internal committee and administrative works without any sitting allowance or reasonable honorarium. Notwithstanding, they accept and invest all their energy to do an excellent job.  Volumes of Ph.D. theses, MSc dissertations, and undergraduate projects occupy their tables every day waiting for their thorough vetting, line by line, page by page. No day will come to pass that, one or two professors will not be featured in radio and tv station programs to digest vital issues that affect national growth and development.  They serve as keynote speakers, discussants in various public gatherings at national and sub-national levels. They analyze situations, assess scenarios to offer required solutions pro abno. They read in the silent dark to be able to give sound recommendations for the good of the nation economically, socially, and administratively. Yet, our government gives them I-see-I-saw my alert as their monthly package. That is totally unfair and refutable. Our professors don't sleep adequately because of the workload that's too much on them. 24/7 is barely grossly inadequate for them to clear off document queues on their table. They are always as busy as bees, with no rest of mind, no rest of body. ASUU must do the needful. Nobody wants to die a poor man after all our professors are the nation's resource. They are not wood logs, please.
