Giveaway - Halal Or Haram

What's the islamic rulings on giveaway, as someone said why you guys are not doing giveaway in this group

ANSWER❗

Alhamdulillah

Giveaway means

1) something that is given away or handed out for free

2) something that is obvious or apparent; something that reveals a secret

You made me remembered Almighty Allah’s statement: “Who is he that will lend to Allah a goodly loan so that He may multiply it to him many times?” (Al- Baqarah: 245)

In islam, if someone wants to give something he/she must make sure that he/she did it with good intention (ikhlas) failure to do so may lead such person to fall into the category of showing off (ar-riya)

That's why Imam an-Nawawy starts his 40 Collections of Hadith (Arba'una Hadith) with the hadith of Innamal a'amalu binniyyat (Actions are judged by the intention)

Meanwhile, you must either do giveaway for the sake of Almighty Allah or do it to earn respect in the eye of the public

The former is what is encouraged but the latter is advised, if you do it to boost the intentions of others who are willingly ready to giveaway

Furthermore, the group is created to discuss, share and ask about what will benefits the participants. But this kind of sadaqat that people are talking about whereby the collector will demand directly from the giver may inarguably revoke the intention of the giver hence the outcome of ar-riya (showing off)

Mayhap, there are a lot of people in this group that are conducting their giveaway secretly simply to earn the reward behind the hadith of Rasulullah (SAW) thus; The Prophet ﷺ counted the person who gives alms in secret to be among the seven that Allah will cover with His shade on the day when there will be no shade except His shade: “…and a man that gives alms and makes this secret to the extent that his left hand knows not what his right has spent.”

Another hadith, on the authority of Ka’b ibn ‘Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet ﷺ said: “…and alms extinguishes bad deeds just as water extinguishes fire.” [ Source: At-Tirmidhi]

Henceforth, the daily reminders viz; videos, audios, pictures, write up and PDF are more dear and most beneficial far away than moola because moola (like giveaway) would be given at an instance and it would vanish like ash in less than nanosecond but knowledge would never be accumulated in an instance, it's something that you must work for, gather, review, think and ponder upon

I hope the complainer would constantly initiate a second thought before sending unpropitious gripe
