Bara wata al’ada ce game duniya da ake samu a cikin kowace al’umma ta duniya. Kowace ƙasa ta duniya ana samun mabarata, sai dai yawan mabaratan da yadda ake yin baran ya bambanta. Akwai dalilai da yawa da kan sa mutum yin bara, sai dai a mafi yawan lokuta, raɗaɗin rashi da neman abin sakawa baka ke haifar da yin bara. Marubucin wannan littafi ya yi ƙoƙarin kawo tarihin bara a duniya gwargwadon hali da kuma yadda bara ya shigo ƙasar Hausa.
Marubucin ya dubi bara a ƙasar Hausa ya karkasa ta gida-gida daidai da shekarun mabaratan da kuma dalilan da suka sa su yin baran da hanyoyin da ake bi wajen aiwatar da baran. Sunan littafin ya nuna an wallafa shi ne a kan bara da kuma wata hanya ɗaya ta aiwatar da ita, wato waƙa. Bayan gama bayanin bara, sai mawallafin ya shiga nazari da sharhi a kan waƙoƙin na bara. A wajen yin haka, marubucin ya raba waƙoƙin bara daidai da ire-iren mabaratan da ke amfani da su, kamar almajirai da gardawa da sauran mabarata masu amfani da waƙa.
A wajen nazarin waƙoƙin, ya mayar da hankali a kan muhimman abubuwa guda uku, wato siga da jigo da kuma salo. Ya ce waƙoƙin bara suna da wasu sigogi da suka bambanta su da sauran waƙoƙi, kamar gajartar waƙa da ɗiyanta, da haɗa waƙar da rawa a lokacin rera ta, da amshi na musamman mai garwaye da kalmomi masu ma’ana da marasa ma’ana, da tsarma surkulle a cikin waƙoƙin, da rashin nuna zaɓi ga wanda ke neman a ba shi, da sauran wasu irinsu da ya kawo.
A wajen jigo, ya ambaci wasu jigogin da yake ganin sun keɓantu da waƙoƙin bara ne, kamar, ban tausayi da barkwanci da kuma wasu jigogin da waƙoƙin baran ke tarayyarsu da wasu waƙoƙin, kamar roƙo da fatar alheri. Sai dai a salo babu wani abu da ya bambanta waƙoƙin bara da sauran waƙoƙi.
Littafin zai kasance mai amfani ga masu karatu da nazarin adabi har da al’ada musamman idan aka dubi hikimomin da ke cikin littafin waɗanda suka haɗa da nuna wa masu karatu bambancin baran almajirai (ƙananan yara masu shiga bara domin neman ilmi) da sauran mabarata manya waɗanda ba almajirai ba. Ya nuna baran almajirai yana da iya lokaci, wato lokacin da suke ƙanana, da zaran sun girma sai su bari, su nemi wata sana’a. Wannan ya bambanta da baran naƙasassu da sauran wasu nau’o’in mabarata waɗanda da yawansu nasu baran na iya rai ne. Wannan wata nusarwa ce ga jama’a musamman waɗanda ba zaune suke a yankin ƙasar Hausa ba bale su iya tantance haka.
Wani abin kulawa kuma da marubucin ya zo da shi shi ne, nuna bara al’ada ce gama-gari a duniya, kuma yin bara wata naƙasa ce ga mai yin ta, ya Allah naƙasar jiki ko ta zuciya. Nuna haka da ya yi na iya sa mai karatu ya san bara abin ƙyama ne sai a kan dole. Fatarmu a nan ita ce, masu nazarin adabi da al’ada su amfana da wannan littafi, haka ma masu karantawa su amfana ta hanyar taimakawa ga rage yawan mabarata a ƙasar Hausa. Da fatar kwalliya za ta biya kuɗin sabulu.
